At the start of any project, you’ve got to build out your team. And building out a rockstar lineup at the start of every project is absolutely crucial to ensuring customer satisfaction and continued business. Oftentimes, however, pulling that team together can be a less than streamlined process, forcing you to pull in data from disparate tools or spreadsheets. There should be an easier way, right?
TaskRay’s answer to that question is a resounding “Yes!” Because we’re always listening to what our customers want to see in our product, we are so excited to get you acquainted—or reacquainted—with our suite of Resource Management tools. For the last little while, we’ve been rolling out features that make this complex and important part of your job that much easier. If you’ve been adopting them as we’ve released them—Configuration Hub, Dynamic Team Builder, and Resource Attributes—you’ve experienced firsthand how each one builds on the last. But if you haven’t—or you’re new around these parts—fear not. With the release of our latest feature, Resource Planner, it’ll be easy to see how it all comes together in one beautifully functional and intuitive package.
When getting started with Resource Management within TaskRay, think of the Configuration Hub as your home base. It gives you a high-level overview of all your in-house Resources so you can easily define and assign Roles (placeholders) or Resources (specific individuals) to templates and make your repeatable processes more efficient and streamlined. Basically, this is the feature that helps make it easier to set up and make the most out of your TaskRay experiences.
Your next step is to create, build, and maintain project teams with the Dynamic Team Builder. This feature makes it easy to identify the right people for the job and to easily reassign work whenever necessary, making it great for both new and in-flight projects.
For Premium users, we’ve got two more features that really build on the others. The first is Resource Attributes, which allows you to further define and categorize individual Resources. This is your comprehensive team roster that gives you the ability to assign important characteristics, like skills and specializations, or to add them to Role types to further categorize these placeholder designations.
Finally, our latest feature, Resource Planner, brings everything together to help make capacity planning a breeze. Here you’ll find a holistic, high-level overview of team and individual resource workload at both the project and task level. You can get more granular by viewing workload at the day, week, or month level, which allows you to plan proactively for future work, make data-driven hiring requests, and/or quickly pinpoint a source of trouble whenever a capacity issue arises.
This, of course, is just a bird’s eye view of what TaskRay’s Resource Management is all about. You can learn more about the individual features on the Resource Management feature page, or you can learn more about their benefits in this blog post.
